Habufa
H&H / Xooon webdesign
Habufa is the parent company of Henders & Hazel and Xooon. Habufa was searching for a new agency to help them develop the websites for both brands. They were talking to various agencies at the time and I was working at one of them. Together with an account executive I presented our agency and vision.

My Role
After we were approached by Habufa the team consisted of myself, an account executive and the CEO of the agency. We put together a vision for Habufa after which I created a presentation – which I also presented myself. They like our approach, so we won the pitch!
My work included:
- Creative intake (understanding the request)
- Worked at Habufa 1 day to understand their brands
- Presentation
- Design of website for both brands
- Styleguides for both brands

Why it was so special
Habufa was not unknown to me, as the company originates from where I grew up. At that time the furniture in my house was actually also from Habufa. So there were more links than you’d expect.
It was also special because the agency I was working for was not a big agency. The competition was fierce and still we managed to win the pitch. That was a very proud moment as you can imagine.
Finally, it was amazing because the design team at Habufa had clear ideas and input for the brands. They knew exactly what made each brand – which was very helpful input for me to translate the brands to the digital domain. The amount of fonts might have been a heavy load, but the styling was on-brand!

What I’ve learned
Work smart, not hard. It could have been a slogan, as for this project we created just a few components but we used them very smart. By changing the CSS of a component it would instantly be Henders & Hazel or Xooon. Same component, simple swith and it looks like a different website altogether.
As mentioned above I also had to present a few times during the pitch phase. This helped me grow confidence and experience in presenting my work better and better.
Another thing was working with Habufa at their HQ – back then it was kinda new to do. But in the years after working at this agency I would work at a consultancy where working at the client became the standard. So this was a great introduction to the value of working with and at the client.
